Die Mannschaft failed to make the round of 16 stage in the 2018 world cup, and have failed to qualify again, after winning the tournament in 2014.

After the four-time champions' elimination from football's biggest showpiece, a lot of Barcelona fans have taken to Twitter to aim a dig at the Bayern Munich forward.

Muller has always played a vital role in the Bavarians' victories over the Catalan giants in recent years.

The 33-year-old, who has been a thorn in the flesh of Barcelona, has made eight appearances against the Camp Nou outfit, winning seven and losing just one game.

How VAR decision eliminated Germany

The football world is still reeling from shock after Germany, with all its star players, was eliminated from the World Cup in the group stage for the second consecutive tournament, Sport Brief had earlier reported.

With Luis Enrique's side still fumbling after Japan gabbed the equalizer, Ao Tanaka converted from close range, a goal that was immediately chalked off because the ball had gone off the pitch before Brighton and Hove Albion's sensation squared it back. Well, according to the assistant referee.

The goal proved decisive for Germany as they bowed out of the competition despite beating Costa Rica.
