  • The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar will see a total of 831 players from several leagues around the world play 64 games as football’s biggest tournament unfolds in the Middle East
  • All 32 participating countries in the 2022 World Cup have 26 players on their roster, except Iran, which has 25 players
  • 73 per cent of the total number of players participating in this year's tournament ply their trade in Europe

FC Barcelona have usurped Bayern Munich to top the chart of clubs with the most player representations at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Alejandro Balde's call-up onto the Spain roster to replace injured Valencia defender José Luis Gayà ensures Barcelona chalk the feat as the club that will be most represented at the Mundial.

Bayern Munich initially had 17 players summoned for this year's Mundial however Sadio Mane's late injury and eventual withdrawal from the Senegal squad has allowed the Blaugrana to grab the new record away from the Bavarians.

Barcelona players to miss Qatar 2022

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Qatar 2022 is now upon us, providing a chance for the greatest players in the modern game to strut their stuff in front of the watching world.

Beyond the Messi and the Ronaldos, fans will be positively salivating at the prospect of watching Kylian Mbappe, Kevin de Bruyne, Neymar, Robert Lewandowski and many, many others in action.

However, despite the glut of talent on show, spare a thought for those teams who failed to qualify, and in particular, the stars who will miss out on all the fun and games at the tournament.
