  • The La Liga giants failed to reach the last 16 of the Champions League for the second season running under the tutelage of the 42-year-old

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has vowed his side will fight for the available titles following his side's elimination from the UEFA Champions League.

Xavi's Barcelona suffered back-to-back elimination from Europe's premier club competition on the back of Inter Milan's triumph against Viktoria Plzen.

The Catalan giants knew of their status before playing their penultimate group game against Bayern Munich, which ended in a humiliating three-nil loss at Camp Nou.

"We have to fight for all the titles in the next months. There are Europa League, La Liga, Copa del Rey and Supercopa; I'm convinced we can fight in all the competitions," he said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Barcelona suffer early UCL exit

Bayern Munich clinched the top spot in Champions League Group C with a 3-0 win over eliminated Barcelona, after the Catalans' fate had been decided before kick-off at Camp Nou on Wednesday.

Inter Milan thrashed Viktoria Plzen 4-0 earlier on to guarantee progression to the last 16 and send Barca crashing out in the first round for a second successive season.

The Catalans, who drop into the Europa League, had reached the knock-out rounds in the 17 prior editions of the tournament before consecutive early eliminations under coach Xavi Hernandez.

Barca chief sends warning to Xavi

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Barcelona president Joan Laporta has refused to blame Xavi or his players for the Catalans’ early elimination from the UEFA Champions League this season.

Barca were knocked out of Europe’s most prestigious club competition in the group stages for the second consecutive season, after suffering a 3-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich.

Laporta exonerated Xavi of any blame for the club’s miseries in the Champions League but insists everyone must now look for a way forward, Sportskeeda reports.
