Barcelona has suffered yet another major injury setback, after defender Sergi Roberto dislocated his shoulder in Sunday’s 4-0 victory over Athletic Club.
Roberto, who had doubled Barcelona’s lead earlier in the game, had to be stretchered off the pitch in the second half after what looked like a serious injury to the Spanish player.
According to Barca Universal, Roberto’s chances of making Spain’s World Cup squad for Qatar 2022 seems to be over, as Barcelona confirmed he is set to be out until after the global football tournament.
"The first team player Sergi Roberto has a dislocated left shoulder. He is unavailable and his recovery will dictate his return," read a statement by the club.

Roberto’s return to action will be slated for New Year’s Eve, when Barcelona takes on local rivals Espanyol after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Gavi walks off in tears
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s Gavi was the second Blaugrana player to walk off the pitch with an injury against Athletic Club on Sunday, Goal reports.
The 18-year-old midfielder left the field in tears in the first half after going down following a clash with Dani Garcia. He is believed to have suffered a groin injury.
Gavi's injury is not thought to be a serious one however, and shouldn't affect his hopes of playing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup for Spain.
