Robert Lewandowski will get his preferred number 9 jersey when he is presented as a Barcelona player to the club’s supporters today, August 5 at Camp Nou.

The Poland striker penned a 3-year deal with the Catalan giants after ending his 8-year relationship with the Bundesliga champions and has featured in preseason games already for Barcelona.

According to Barca Universal, Barcelona has decided to hand over Memphis Depay’s jersey number to Lewandowski as the Dutch forward has been asked to leave the club.

The 33-year-old is being offered the jersey number for commercial reasons as the Catalan club believes the Poland striker will help boost jersey sales which will in turn help ease Barcelona’s financial issues.

Lewandowski will join Barcelona legends such as Luis Suarez and Patrick Kluivert to wear the famous number 9 at Camp Nou.

Lewandowski’s agent to take large commission after striker’s Barcelona deal

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Robert Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi will get a commission as high as €5m for his role in the striker’s move to Barcelona Football Espana reports.

Barcelona had initially confirmed that the transfer deal itself was worth €45m with an extra €5m available in variables but now the total deal has been revealed to cost €55m due to Zahavi’s commission.

Lewandowski penned a 3-year-deal with the La Liga giants after pushing for a move away from Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich last month.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Robert Lewandowski has posted on his Instagram page of himself alongside the major titles he had won with Bayern Munich as he penned a farewell message to the German champions.

The 33-year-old had sealed a £42.5million switch to Barcelona after ending his 8-year relationship with the Bundesliga heavyweights this summer.

During his 8 seasons at Bayern Munich, Lewandowski won 8 league titles, 3 DFP Pokal trophies, 5 DFL-Supercups, 1 Champions League, 1 Super Cup, and 1 Club World Cup.
