Coach Xavi Hernandez has also changed de Jong’s position in pre-season, with the midfielder now occupying a central defensive role. The move is seen as another attempt to force de Jong to leave the Spanish outfit.
Gary Neville has been critical of Barcelona’s antics and advised de Jong to take legal action, and now Tebas has weighed in on the matter as well, Football Espana reported.
The La Liga head noted that Barcelona know the rules and responsibilities they needed to meet as employers and couldn’t be pressuring a player into accepting anything. He added that this was something that violated the law, reason, and ethics.
Barca are currently in the United States where they are preparing for the new season but are planning to part with at least seven players when they return to Spain.
