Diego Simeone’s position as Atletico Madrid manager is still safe after getting a vote of confidence from the club’s hierarchy, despite a turbulent start to the season for the La Liga giants.
The Argentine manager has seen his team struggle in all competitions this campaign. They have been eliminated from the Champions League group stage and also lie 5th in La Liga.
According to Tribal Football, Atletico Madrid chief, Miguel Angel Gil Marin has now assured Simeone that he still retains the confidence of the board. He described Simeone as an important character in the history of the club.
Since taking over at the Wanda Metropolitano in 2011, Simeone has won two La Liga championships and two Europa League trophies with the Madrid club.

Atletico Madrid eye Thomas Tuchel
Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel is the new favourite to take over from the struggling Simeone at Atletico Madrid, with the La Liga giants in search of a new manager, Daily Mail reports.
Tuchel is without a club at the moment after being sacked by English Premier League giants Chelsea in early September, following a poor run of form with the Blues.
Former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino is also the club's back-up option if their pursuit of Tuchel fails.
