Since then, numerous clubs have been linked with his signature, but all have turned him down. The latest club rumoured to be keen on Ronaldo’s signature is Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.
News broke during the week that Ronaldo had convinced Simeone to sign him. Conflicting reports then surfaced that Atleti could not afford to sign the superstar.

Tongues were set wagging once again when Diego Simeone’s son liked a tweet that alluded to Ronaldo’s move to Madrid. Many saw it as confirmation that the superstar was going to the Spanish capital, Daily Mail reported.
Football super journalist, Fabrizio Romano, has now provided an update on the situation, Stretty News reported.
Romano explained that Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has held talks with Simeone but that he has also held talks with other clubs.
“At the moment Atletico Madrid are among many clubs who spoke to Jorge Mendes. But still nothing close, still no bid. It’s just a conversation, he said.
“The situation for Cristiano Ronaldo is still up in the air,” Mendes exclaimed.
