Lookman Vows To Beat Compatriot Victor Osimhen to Serie A Top Scorer Award

Nigerian international Ademola Lookman has vowed to edge fellow compatriot Victor Osimhen to the Serie A top scorer award by the end of the season.

No African has won the prestigious prize in Italian football, but Osimhen and Lookman top the scorer’s chart so far this season.

Osimhen has scored 13 times in 15 league appearances in the ongoing campaign, while Lookman on the other hand has scored 11 goals in 18 outings for Atalanta.

The 25-year-old is, however, confident he can turn the table against his international teammate.

Lookman told The Athletic as per Daily Post:

”I used to think about the future, you can get caught up in the future and the future will always come but the now is the most important

“Nah, not when he (Osimhen) is above you, anyway. I will catch him, Not I might, I will.”

The duo will be in action for their respective clubs this weekend.

Osimhen on Manchester Uniter’s radar

Meanwhile, Manchester United have continued to be heavily linked with Nigerian international striker Victor Osimhen.

Napoli have raised the striker’s transfer fee to about €120 million (£105m) price tag this summer, according to Sky journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Since United parted ways with Cristiano Ronaldo last December, the Red Devils have been in the market searching for another striker.

Singer Crayon delighted over Osimhen, Man Utd links

Sports Brief earlier reported that famous Nigerian singer Crayon expressed happiness on the speculation tipping Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen with a move to Manchester United.

This comes after the Afropop artist and songwriter was hailed by Osimhen on social media.

Crayon explained that there will be serious trouble for Premier League teams if Man United sign Osimhen.
