Asante Kotoko Deny Signing Former Real Madrid and Arsenal Forward Emmanuel Adebayor

• Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have rejected reports that they have completed the signing of former Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor
• Reports went rife in the local media that the Porcupine Warriors have shown interest in the former Arsenal and Real Madrid striker
• Emmanuel Adebayor has enormous experience after playing in Europe and South America before returning to Togo

Asante Kotoko have denied that they have made an approach to sign former Arsenal and Real Madrid forward Emmanuel Adebayor.

The legendary Togo international has been heavily linked with a move to join a Ghana Premier League club and it was thought that the Porcupine Warriors would make a move for the forward.

Reports emanating in the media indicated that the former Manchester City striker was close to penning a deal for the Porcupine Warriors for an undisclosed fee.

But these reports have been denied by the Communications Director of the 21-time Ghana champions, David Obeng Nyarko.

The Kotoko spokesperson replied a tweet suggesting that the current league leaders have agreed to complete the signing of the 2008 Africa Footballer of the Year.

He tweeted: 'Not true'

Adebayor is currently a free agent after the expiration of his contract with Paraguayan side Olimpia Asuncion in July 2020.

Adebayor's stellar career in Europe

The 38-year-old started his European career at French club FC Metz, before joining several top European clubs like AS Monaco, Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur.

Adebayor later played for Crystal Palace and Turkish clubs Kayserispor and İstanbul Başakşehir.

He was named the 2008 African Footballer of the Year.

Former Black Stars Defender Targets Return to Ghana Premier League

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Black Stars defender Samuel Inkoom is eyeing a return to the Ghana Premier League before he retires from active football.

The 32-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract ended with Georgia club, FC Torpedo Kutaisi in December last year.
