Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song has won the Djibouti Premier League with Arta/Solar7 six months after joining them.
The 33-year-old was named the club's captain shortly after moving to there in November 2020 and he has now inspired them to their first-ever top-flight glory.
Arta Solar defeated second-place outfit AS Port 4-2 in their meeting last Friday to secure their first title with two games remaining in the league.
Speaking after the feat, the Cameroonian star expressed his delighted as he revealed it was his dream to win the domestic league with the club.
"It's mission accomplished, and I am delighted. Coming here wasn't easy. There are things you don't know about when you arrive in a new country but thank God it has gone well," he said.
"I am proud of the club president, who has given me the opportunity to come here. He has achieved something historic," he added.
Song made 215 appearances during his seven-year reign at Arsenal and scored 10 goals in the process, after arriving from French club Bastia in 2006.
He, however, never won the Premier League title with the Gunners, moving on to Barcelona afterwards where he spent four seasons and won the Spanish League title.
"During my entire time at Arsenal, I couldn't even save £100,000, while people thought I must be a millionaire," Song was quoted saying on his decision to move to Barcelona.
"When Barcelona offered me a contract, and I saw how much I would earn, I didn't think twice. I felt my wife and children should have comfortable lives once my career is over," he added.
The experienced midfielder went on to help Barcelona win the La Liga in 2013 before joining Russian side, Rubin Kazan. T
he Cameroonian also had top-flight loan spells with Charlton and West Ham.
Capped 49 times, Song retired from international duty with the Indomitable Lions in 2015.
