English Premier League side, Arsenal have celebrated Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey for his incredible achievement with the Black Stars.

The Arsenal star scored in Abuja to force a 1-1 draw against Nigeria to help the Black Stars qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.

In a post on Twitter, the club congratulated the midfielder following his tarring role on Tuesday night at the Moshood Abiola stadium.

"Scores a crucial goal. Qualifies for the World Cup. Congratulations to Thomas Partey and Ghana," wrote Arsenal.

Thomas Partey's tenth minute strike proved decisive as it sent Ghana to the World Cup due to the away goal ruling.

William Trost-Ekong leveled for the Super Eagles from the spot, ten minutes after Partey's lead but it was not enough to send Nigeria to the global showpiece.

The Arsenal man will be expected in London in the coming days as the Premier League returns.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Thomas Partey's 10th-minute goal proved too costly for the Super Eagles as it eliminated Nigeria from the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles had been optimistic about getting a victory against the Black Stars after holding the Ghanaians to a goalless draw in the first leg in Kumasi.

The 60,000 capacity Moshood Abiola Stadium had been packed full of supporters who came to cheer the Super Eagles to victory but left disappointed after the final whistle.

English League Two side Swindon Town have expressed pride in seeing their number one goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott lead Ghana's Black Stars to the 2022 World Cup.

Wollactott put up a heroic display in the two legs as Ghana defeated Nigeria via the away goal ruling to make it to Qatar.

The club took to social media to celebrate the 25-year-old in a series of tweets, showing how proud they are to have.
