Spanish international Cesc Fabregas was full of praise for Arsenal stars Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard as the Gunners climbed to the fourth spot in the Premier League table.

How did Arsenal overcome Watford in five-goal thriller

With relegation staring in the way of Watford, the Hornets had to find a way past the Gunners and it appeared very much so when Nigeria's Emmanuel Dennis put the ball at the back of the net.

However, his joy was cut short when he was ruled offside. His dismay was turned into misery when Arsenal broke the deadlock through Martin Ødegaard.

Watford rallied back through Colombian forward Cucho after 11 minutes.

Arsenal managed to restore their lead through speedster Bukayo Saka, who pickpocketed Tom Cleverley before playing a one-two with Lacazette to rifle an unstoppable drive past Ben Foster after the half-hour mark.

Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli stretched the lead for the north London outfit after 52 minutes as Arsenal looked to be romping away with yet another win.

But former Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder Sissoko had other ideas when he put the cat among the pigeons with his 87th-minute strike.

Despite the late surge for an equalizer by the home side, Arsenal held on to clinch a very important win to tighten their grip of the coveted fourth position.

How were Saka and Ødegaard rated in the Watford match

The Arsenal pair were rated 9/10 by thehardtackle following their immaculate display for the north London club.

Saka, who won the man-of-the-match award, was described as superb by Squawka for his show-stopping output against Watford, barely putting a foot wrong.

The former Arsenal skipper, who won the English Premier League with Arsenal and Chelsea in a glittering career, described the pair as the present and future of his former employers in an appreciation tweet which was spotted by Sports Brief.
