Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey, is having a week to forget after seeing red just 24 hours following the Black Stars' AFCON elimination.
The 28-year-old returned to England, after Ghana lost to Comoros at the Africa Cup of Nations, to rejoin his Arsenal teammates for the Caraboa Cup semi final game against Liverpool.
Partey, who was introduced in the game in the 75th minute, went into the books of the referee twice and that got him off in the 90th minute.
The former Atletico Madrid man was a surprise inclusion in Arteta's team, especially having just exited AFCON with his Ghana team.
However, he flew all the way from Cameroon and made it in time for the Caraboa Cup semi final.
Thomas Partey replaced Emile Rowe Smith in the 74th minute, with the Gunners down by a goal from Diogo Jota's first half strike.
The rusty Ghanaian then went into the books of the referee for a first foul in the 87th minute, when Diogo Jota had doubled the lead ten minute earlier.
He was then sent off ten minutes later for another bookable challenge.
The defeat means Arsenal are out of the Carabao Cup while Liverpool progress to the final of the competition, where they face Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Partey has been receiving a lot of backlash back home in Ghana after failing to glitter at the Nations Cup.
