Aubameyang has not featured for his side in any competition since December 6, and the Gunners have been impressive in his absence, winning five out of their last six games and scoring 20 goals.

The 32-year old is currently with Gabon preparing for the Africa Cup of nations and was sidelined by his club over a disciplinary issue in December.

According to Sky Italia, Juventus are among the clubs that could be interested in the services of Aubameyang, who is currently Arsenal’s highest earner.

But the Old Lady are unwilling to engage in any business at the moment because of Aubameyang’s current commitment to the Afcon tournament, set to kick off on January 9.

The rumour mill also has it that Newcastle United could be interested in signing Aubameyang on loan in January, with the option of buying him for £20m in the summer.

Meanwhile, Arsenal want to use the period of the Africa Cup of Nations to reset their relations with the striker.

Aubameyang ousting risk paying off for Arteta

There was a risk involved in ousting Aubameyang from the first team by Mikel Arteta.

However, in his absence, Arsenal have coped expertly, winning five matches and only losing once in a controversial fashion against Manchester City.

Stand-in captain Alexandre Lacazette has integrated seamlessly, linking up with youngsters Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe to devastating effect for opponents.

For Aubemayeng, his form has dipped spectacularly since scoring 29 goals in the 2019/20 season where he helped his side lift the FA Cup.

Elsewhere Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland Niles is also set to depart the Emirates on loan, with AS Roma his most likely destination.
