FootballFormer Hearts of Oak Striker Tips Sulley Muntari To Score Against Asante Kotoko
Former Hearts of Oak striker Prince Tagoe has backed Sulley Muntari to score against rivals Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
The ex-Black Stars forward believes his compatriot can break his scoring duck against the Porcupine Warriors after playing two games for the Phobians without a goal.
Muntari made his debut for Hearts of Oak when he made a cameo appearance in their 1-0 defeat to city rivals Great Olympics.
He started and played 80 minutes when the Rainbow Boys played 0-0 away to Real Tamale United in Tamale last weekend.
With the former AC Milan midfielder expected to start in the biggest fixture in Ghana, Tagoe thinks it is only a matter of time before Muntari finds his goalscoring form.
"Hearts of Oak will beat Kotoko 1-0 on Sunday, Sulley Muntari will socre the goal on the day so people should watch out," Tagoe said on Angel TV.
Tagoe, thorn in the flesh of Kotoko
Prince Tagoe played for Hearts of Oak for two seasons, helping the Phobians to beat Asante Kotoko on penalties to win the maiden edition of the CAF Confederations Cup in 2005.
Tagoe also scored the only goal when Hearts pipped Kotoko 1-0 to the 2005 Ghana Premier League decider. The lanky striker poked home a Bernard Don Bortey's free kick in the 76th minute of the game to beat keeper Eric Nii Baah, who is making his debut for Kotoko.
Sulley Muntari Plays Against His Former Teammate's Son
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that it is very uncommon for a player to play against his teammate's son but that is exactly what Sulley Muntari has done on Sunday.
During the Accra-derby match in the Ghana Premier League, the legendary Ghanaian international achieved a feat that not any other players in history will ever accomplish.
The 37-year-old lined up for Hearts of Oak's 1-0 defeat against Great Olympics, with 19-year-old Rodney Appiah featuring for the Dade Boys, 12 years after his father Stephen Appiah last played alongside Muntari during the 2010 World Cup.
