Dutch football manager and legendary midfielder, Ruud Gullit, has slammed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for making huge tactical mistakes that saw Manchester United bundled out of the Champions League by Barcelona.

United suffered a 1-0 defeat at home in the first leg of the tie and 3-0 at Camp Nou on Tuesday night, April 16, to exit the tournament.

Lionel Messi starred in the second leg of the fixture as his first half brace sunk the Red Devils.

Solskjaer was later blamed for his poor tact in the entire fixture, with Gullit contending it was wrong for the Norwegian to leave it until the second leg to start attacking Barcelona with any real vigour.

The former Chelsea star criticised the Premier League side for missing glorious chances at Old Trafford and leaving it until the second leg to pose any attacking threat.

"Manchester United made a mistake I think, tactically," Gullit told beIN SPORTS after United’s defeat.
"I can understand when you play at home that you want to score goals and be more adventurous and they decided not to do it in the first leg," he added.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have now joined Ajax Amsterdam in the semis of the Champions League after the Dutch side shocked Juventus in Turin.

Barca will play the winner between Liverpool and FC Porto in the next stage of the competition.
