AS Roma and Ghana's Felix Ohene Afena-Gyan's exceptional strike versus Genoa in November in the Serie A has been voted the best goal of 2021.
The goal was said to be the one fans voted for the most in Socios.com, a fan influence and reward app's end of year awards, as the goal of 2021.
Afena-Gyan scored a brace for AS Roma in that particular game to hand Jose Mourinho's team all three points, but his second made headlines across the world for its spectacular beauty.
Aside the goals, Afena-Gyan showed flashes of his attacking prowess making direct runs at Genoa players, dribbling, and laying some good passes.
That game was the moment the rest of the world, aside Ghanaian Italian Serie A fans, learned of the 18-year-old prodigy from AS Roma's youth team.
The Ghanaian had gone viral before though for his post match interview where he said a thank you each for all the people he cared about, but the goal made his fame explode.

The Ghanaian lad has gone on to make five appearances all from the bench for Jose Mourinho' AS Roma and has scored only the two goals in that time, with a positive covid-19 result, sidelining him for a number of games.
Afena-Gyan has twice turned down a call up to the Ghana Black Stars, first during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers and recently for the African Cup of Nations, citing a need to learn and develop under the Portuguese's tutelage and hopefully establish himself as a starter.
