Chelsea are now on the verge of losing their captain Cesar Azpilicueta as Spanish side Barcelona have reportedly agreed to sign him next summer.

The Spaniard has reached an agreement in principle to join Barcelona on a Bosman move, with only minor details left to be ironed out.

Azpilicueta joined Chelsea from Marseille in August 2012 and as he approaches the end of his tenth season with the Blues, the Spaniard has established a lasting legacy at the club.

According to the report on Complete Sports and SB Nation, Spanish reporter Gerard Romero broke the news about Barcelona's intention to sign the Chelsea star.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported how Stamford Bridge club Chelsea have lost further ground having dropped points again when they played a 1-1 draw against Brighton in the Premier League.

He Blues had an impressive Romelu Lukaku back in the squad but they failed to claim all three points against the Seagulls who fought back for most parts of the encounter.

Lukaku opened the scoring for the Blues, but Thomas Tuchel’s side were matched toe-to-toe by the visitors up and down the pitch.

Eventually, substitute Danny Welbeck headed Brighton level in the 91st minute and the Seagulls earned a deserved share of the points.
