Reports have emerged that Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo was subject to jeers from Newcastle United fans as both sides shared points in the English Premier League game played on Monday night at St. James’ Park.
GiveMeSports reports the incident occurred during the warm-up ahead of the encounter as Ronaldo practiced his shooting drills.
Newcastle fans taunted Manchester United’s current leading scorer in all competitions whenever he misses any of his shots in the drill.
Ronaldo however had the last laugh when he finally fired home a shot and cupped his ears to the home crowd immediately afterward.
The Portuguese forward did not however have a good time on the pitch as he was left frustrated by lack of chances which saw him fail to register any shot on target.
He could have seen a red card after a reckless tackle on Newcastle United’s Ryan Fraser as reported by the Sport Bible.
Edinson Cavani’s 71st-minute equalizer was enough for the Red Devils to come away with a point after Newcastle’s Saint-Maximin had given the Magpies the lead in the 7th minute.
Ronaldo is Manchester United’s best performer this season after registering 13 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions for United and will hope to add to that tally when Burnley visits Old Trafford on Thursday.
The Red Devils are currently 7th on the premier league table, 7 points behind 4th placed Arsenal although with two games outstanding.
