The 67-year-old has now taken her appeal a step further by making sure a gift bought from their Sporting Lisbon shop made its way amongst the gifts Ronaldo and his family received and placed under their Christmas tree.

Aveiro was then hailed by Sporting fans who assumed it was her who planted the present under the tree.

The green bag with the initials SCP, short for Sporting CP, was top of the pile of presents Cristiano and his family received.

Aveiro regularly posts pictures of her watching her favourite club Sporting CP and confessed on a recent podcast: “I’ve already told him, ‘Son, before I die I want to see you return to Sporting.”

Ronaldo win at Global Soccer Awards

Earlier, Sportsbrief reported that Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, and Robert Lewandowski were among the biggest winners at the Global Soccer Awards in Dubai.

Each of the three football stars picked an award, with Mbappe being crowned the Best Men's Player of the Year.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward enjoyed a prolific 2021, scoring 36 goals for his clubs as well as bagging crucial assists.

However, at the international level, the winger had a frustrating campaign with France during the summer's European Championship as he failed to score.

On his part, Lewandowski, who surprisingly missed out on the Ballon d'Or this year picked the Maradona Award and the Player of the Year for TikTok fans.

Man City chief Txiki Begirstan was recognized as the sporting director of the year, as Federico Pastello won the award for agents.

Meanwhile, Chelsea were named the best club team after they won the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel.
