Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos state governor, has donated a Toyota Coaster bus to FC Robo Queens Football Club of Lagos for winning the Lagos FA Cup competition.
FC Robo is currently the most prominent female football club in Lagos.
The Lagos-based club has produced stars like Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Chidinma Okeke, and Monday Gift.
Sanwo-Olu took to his official Instagram page to make the announcement.
He posted: “I presented a bus to FC ROBO today at the State House Marina, to help ease their travel to and from their competitions.
“FC Robo is a formidable female football team in Lagos and currently playing in the national league where they are number two on the league table. Our administration recognised the place of sports and it is the reason it is an integral part of our THEMES development agenda.
“As a government, we are investing and improving sporting infrastructure. We are building mini-stadia in communities where talents are being discovered and nurtured. We are resuscitating school sports while also providing support for our athletes.
“I praised the doggedness of FC Robo Team members and their technical crew to excel as number one female football club in Nigeria. I will ensure the team get the necessary support and stay motivated to excel.”

Earlier, Sportsbrief had reported that Blessing Oborududu who won silver for Nigeria at the Olympics in Tokyo has been rewarded with the sum of N4 million by the Bayelsa state Governor Douye Diri who was impressed with her performance in Japan.
The 32-year-old recorded her name in the history book by becoming the first Nigerian to win medal in wrestling at Olympics games which remains an emphatic one for her.

All the 25 players of Bayelsa United who won the 2021 Aiteo Cup were also rewarded with N1M each with Bayelsa Queens also getting the same amount.
Coaches of the two teams were also rewarded by the Bayelsa state Governor who was so happy.
Against all odds, Bayelsa United defeated Nasarawa United in the final of the Men's Aiteo Cup final played in Benin.
After their failure to finish among the top four teams on the final table in the Nigerian League, Nasarawa United turned their attention to the Aiteo Cup, but suffered a surprise defeat against Bayelsa who won on penalties.
