The record was previously held by Arjen Robben who turned out for the Blues between 2004 and 2007.

Hudson-Odoi set the new record while in action against Aston Villa on Boxing Day as Thomas Tuchel's charges hammered Villa 3-1 to revive their title hopes.

Metro UK reports the 21-year-old Englishman registered his 10th assist of the season when he won a penalty in the first half of Chelsea’s victory over Aston Villa.

Robben, on the other hand, joined Chelsea at aged 20 and registered nine assists in his debut Premier League season before getting his 10th at the start of the 2005/06 campaign.

After initially struggling for first-team action, Hudson-Odoi has thrived over the last few months under Tuchel.

And his impressive performance at Villa Park did not escape the eye of Tuchel who showered him with praises in his post-match interview.

"I think he was brilliant," the Chelsea boss was quoted saying.
"I was never frustrated with him today. He had one bad decision under pressure when he tried to do a back-heel in front of the coaching staff, maybe there was an easier solution to escape the pressure with an easy pass, there was a clear pass to NG [N’Golo Kante]. But I was never frustrated with him today," he added.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's win away from home has them sitting third on the log with 41 points, on level with second-placed Liverpool.

Terry set for Chelsea return

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Chelsea legend John Terry is in line to make a stunning return to Stamford Bridge as a youth development coach.

Terry is currently out of work after he quit as an assistant manager at Aston Villa, with the former England international initially hoping to land a managerial job in the EPL.

However, none has been forthcoming forcing him to rethink his career.
