The newly appointed coach of the Sudanese national football team, Burhan Tia, has announced a provisional 36-man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, All Africa reports.
Tia was recently appointed following the sacking of Frenchman Hubert Velud, after Sudan's early exit from the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 held in Qatar.
Only one player plying his trade abroad outside Sudan, Athar Attahir, who features as a defender for Egyptian side Smouha Al-Masry made the list.
Complete Sports earlier reported that the rest of the squad came entirely from the local league as Sudan are drawn in Group D alongside Egypt, Nigeria and Guinea Bissau.

According to the confirmation by the Nigerian Football Federation, they disclosed that all the players called for the AFCON must start reporting to camp in Abuja from December 29.
Sports Brief earlier reported that Man City winger Riyad Mahrez has been selected to captain Algeria during the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon.
Mahrez is part of Algeria's 28-man squad named by head coach Djamel Belmadi to take part during the continental showpiece.
Incidentally, the City star is one of the 15 players from the squad who won the competition during the 2019 edition staged in Egypt.
Algeria's squad features a star-studded team, with the majority of the players plying their trade abroad.
