Aubameyang troubles: Tuchel to contact former Dortmund striker over Arsenal situation

• Aubameyang played under Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund and helped the German win his first major honour as a coach
• The Gabon striker was stripped of Arsenal’s captaincy following a disciplinary breach after returning late from France
• The 32-year old has been left out of Mikel Arteta’s squad for their last four games and will not be used till after the AFCON

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has shown a hand of support to embattled Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the Gabonese was stripped of his captaincy following a disciplinary breach.

Aubamenyang has been exiled from the Arsenal’s first team and has not featured for the Gunners in five consecutive games including the 5-1 thrashing of Sunderland in the EFL Cup quarter-finals played on Wednesday.

Arsenal have however disclosed they have no intentions of selling Aubameyang in January as reported by Techno Trenz but plan to take advantage of the AFCON break to mend fences with their former caption.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel who worked together with Aubameyang at Borrusia Dortmund has expressed his sympathy with the striker admitting he feels sorry for the Gabonese when he was questioned if he has spoken to the exiled Arsenal striker reports The Sun.

"I will at some point. I feel sorry that he is in trouble.

"I believe in his positive character but I am not involved in this situation or his club. It is just about my picture and relationship."

The former AC Milan forward was instrumental in helping the German win his first major honour as a coach, scoring the winner against Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB-Pokal 2017 final.

Barcelona and Juventus have been touted to be interested in signing Aubameyang in January following the striker’s continuous absence from Arsenal’s first team but nothing has been confirmed by either the Gunners or the clubs interested.
