Pep Guardiola reacts to Man United's decision to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has reacted to the sacking of his opposite other, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

Guardiola claimed it was a pleasure to come up against the sacked Man United boss as he expressed his sympathy with the Norwegian.

The Spaniard further took time to reflect on his encounters with Solskjaer, admitting the ex-United manager often got the better of him.

"I wish him all the best. It was a pleasure to face him. He beat us more than I wanted," Pep said as quoted by Mirror UK.

Solskjaer was dismissed from his role on Sunday, November 22, after overseeing a disastrous run of form and results.

His last assignment with the Red Devils ended in a 4-1 humbling defeat against newly-promoted side, Watford.

The former Cardiff and Molde boss lasted a little under three years in the role, serving his first three months of his reign as an interim manager.

His departure came at a time the Red Devils have lost seven of their last Premier League outings, with the worrying run of form leaving them 12 points adrift of leaders Chelsea.

With Michael Carrick now in charge as caretaker manager, it remains to be seen who United could go for in their hunt for a replacement.

A number of top names including Zinedine Zidane, Erik Ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers have already been cited for the Old Trafford job.

Ole reveals future plans
