FootballEx-Man City Star 'Attacks' Ronaldo For His 'Coward Challenge' On De Bruyne During Manchester Derby
- Cristiano Ronaldo made a ‘coward’s challenge’ on Kevin De Bruyne during the 2-0 defeat to Man City according to Trevor Sinclair
- Ronaldo lunged at De Bruyne in the dying moments but was only given a yellow card by referee Michael Oliver
- The Portugal star cut a frustrated figure once again just like how it was two weeks ago in Man United 5-0 loss to Liverpool
Former Man City winger Trevor Sinclair has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo over his tackle on Kevin De Bruyne during the Manchester derby.
Ronaldo lunged at De Bruyne in the dying moments of the derby as the Portugal star cut a frustrated figure once again just like how it was two weeks ago in Man United 5-0 loss to Liverpool.
It was Ronaldo’s first Manchester derby since returning to Old Trafford after 12 years away, but he could do little or nothing, as Man City put up a dominant display to beat their rivals 2-0.
However, one major highlight of the game came in the 90th minute as Ronaldo was shown a yellow card for a late tackle on City ace De Bruyne.
The Belgian midfielder had already been floored by Bruno Fernandes before Ronaldo went in with an even later tackle.
The referee for the game Michael Oliver decided it was a yellow-card offence, a decision former Man City star Sinclair has kicked against as he claims Ronaldo should have been shown a straight red for the tackle.
Sinclair told talkSPORT and as cited on Mirror: “That’s a cheap one.
“The challenge initially went in from Fernandes, and as he’s down on the floor after being fouled, Ronaldo launches into that.
“I know it’s only one foot, but he’s jumped in with his studs showing. I thought it was a little bit naughty.
“It’s a little bit of frustration, but it’s not OK. I hope De Bruyne is OK because it’s a really poor challenge.

Football“It’s a coward’s challenge. He’s got away with a couple, the one with Curtis Jones as well.
“He’s got a temper because he’s a winner. He doesn’t like losing.”
Roy Keane says the trio of McTominay, Fred, and Bailly are not good enough for Man United
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Man United legend Roy Keane has singled out three Red Devils players for blame after the side's 2-0 defeat against rivals City at Old Trafford.
Man City were completely dominant against the Red Devils as Pep Guardiola outfoxed tactically his opposite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Eric Bailly scored an own goal to hand the visitors the lead inside 14 minutes of action before Bernardo Silva doubled the advantage on the stroke of halftime.
While there were no goals recorded in the second half, there was nothing pleasant to write home about for United, with the defeat further compounding Solskjaer's woes at the club.
Reacting to the loss, Keane noted the trio of Bailly, Scott McTominay is not good enough for the club.
