The Red Devils are currently experiencing one of the lowest points in Solskjaer’s tenure, and the latest 5-0 defeat to Liverpool only seemed to pile pressure on the manager.

While reports indicate that United were not ready to do away with Solskjaer, the gaffer himself expressed no desire to walk away from the club.

In a candid interview with Sky Sports, Solskjaer openly spoke about his position, where he admitted the pressure and slump were real, but was unwilling to “let his 18 years at the club end like this”.

He also disregarded any suggestion that he was not the right man for the job.

"I don't expect them to come out and defend a performance like this [vs Liverpool]," Solskjaer said of the club's board. "We're in a poor run of form.
"My 18 years at the club are not gonna be defined by these few weeks," he vowed.

As a player, Solsjkaer famously scored in the Champions League final in 1999 in a goal which helped United, managed by Sir Alex Ferguson at the time, with the treble.

"I've had ups and downs as a player and as a manager. I've had setbacks. That's what we do at the club. I've always made sure that I fight back,” he went on.

United face Tottenham in their next game on Saturday, October 30 and Solskjaer has his sights on an emphatic bounceback.

"I'm going to go all-in now for a result [against Tottenham] on Saturday. That's the only thing we can do. We need a reaction. We need a result."

Asked whether he could turn United’s fortunes around, Solskjaer said:

"I believe in myself. But it's not about me, this. It's about moving forward. It [the defeat to Liverpool] is rock bottom when you lose to your rival in that way.

Back in training

Amid calls to sack him, Solskjaer was back in training with his Man United side on Tuesday, October 26.

Sir Alex Ferguson was present during that training session and Liverpool legend Steve Nicol believes it might be time Solskjaer starts taking control of his own team, even if it means snubbing Ferguson from training sessions.
