The Directorate of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti now wants embattled Football Kenya Federations n (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa detained for another 14 days.
This, the DCI says, will enable its officers to complete investigations into graft allegations bedevilling FKF.
Mwendwa, who was arraigned before Milimani Law Courts magistrate Wandia Nyamu on Monday, November 15, did not plead to any fraud charges after the DCI filed an application seeking two weeks to complete the probe into the matter.
Kinoti, through Chief Inspector Moses Mnangat urged the court to allow them to continue holding the suspended FKF president at Capital Hill Police station for the 14 days.
The court heard investigations into the matter started when a report was lodged at DCI headquarters on Friday, November 12, by the Registrar of sports.
It is said that the Registrar of sports reported that an inspection committee had been appointed to carry out an audit on the sports affairs of FKF and that the said committee had established that fictitious money transfers amounting to KSh 8.5 million were transferred to a private bank account including that of Mwendwa.
The officer informed the court that they are yet to obtain relevant documents from Football Kenya Federation, various banks and record statements from various witnesses.
The Prosecution wants Mwendwa detained saying if he is released on bail pending probe he will interfere with the ongoing investigations.
"Mwendwa will most likely destroy or conceal relevant evidence or otherwise interfere with witnesses and evidence collection thus compromising the investigations should he be released at the moment," officer Mnangat noted.

They opposed the application for detention vehemently saying that the police should have conducted their investigations before they arrested him.
FIFA wants Mwendwa reinstated
