  • Newcastle have ended speculation over the clubs next manager after the appointment of Eddie Howe as new boss
  • Howe will be succeeding Steve Bruce who was recently sacked after the takeover of the club by new owners backed by a Saudi consortium
  • The ex-Bournemouth manager's immediate assignment will be getting the Magpies out of the relegation
  • Newcastle remain winless in the Premier League after 11 attempts and sit 19th with a paltry five points

The English manager was in the stands when the Magpies played a 1-1 draw with Brighton at the American Amex Stadium.

The 43-year-old managed Bournemouth for eight years and managed to lead them from the Championship into the top-flight division before he was sent packing in 2020.

"We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Eddie Howe as the club’s new head coach," Newcastle confirmed the appointment in a tweet.
"Welcome to Newcastle United, Eddie," the club added.

Howe has a lot in his hands to accomplish as the Toon Army are yet to record a league win in all of their 11 matches this season.

And as the English league goes on a break for the World Cup qualifiers, Howe's first match in charge will be against Brentford at St, James' Park.

The Englishman is expected to assess the team and suggest new signings for the club who are ready to splash the cash during the January transfer window.

He will be succeeding the legendary Steve Bruce who was sacked after failing to register a win before the takeover from a Saudi Arabian multi-billion pound firm.

Dean Smith sacked at Villa

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported Dean Smith has lost his job at Aston Villa after losing five straight games in the Premier League.

Smith helped Villa earn promotion back to the Premier League in his first season in charge at the club.

The Englishman now becomes the fifth Premier League manager to lose his job this season after Xisco Munoz, Steve Bruce, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Daniel Farke.
