England secured their qualification for the 2022 World Cup in style as they thrashed San Marino 10-0 for their first double-figure scoreline since 1964, Sky Sports reports.
Tottenham striker Harry Kane continued his fine form for his country as he hit four goals in the first half, a performance that saw him go level with Gary Lineker on 48 international goals for The Three Lions.
Just like in the Albania game, it was Manchester United defender Harry Maguire who set his side up for victory with the opener – a header, before Bukayo Saka’s deflected shot made it 2-0.
Then came Harry Kane who stole the show with two penalties and following it up with a brace of trademark finishes.
Despite being 4-0 up at the break, England kept the foot on the gas and Arsenal talent Emile-Smith Rowe, who was only called up to the squad for the first time in November, scored his first international goal in style.
Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings also got in on the act with an angled header, before substitute Tammy Abraham got in on the act. Saka then rounded off a miserable night for San Marino in the 79th minute.
Kane closing in on England goalscoring record
It was yet another flawless performance from Harry Kane, who now find himself behind only Sir Bobby Charlton and Wayne Rooney in the list of all-time goal scorers for England.
The Spurs striker is now only five goals behind Wayne Rooney’s record of 53 and from his performances for England, it will come as no surprise if he surpasses the record, fast.

Portugal thrust into playoffs
