Current Ballon d’or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has been named UEFA player of the year for the 2016/2017 season.

The top 3 nominees for the award were Gianluigi Buffon (ITA – Juventus FC), Lionel Messi (ARG – FC Barcelona) and Cristiano Ronaldo (POR – Real Madrid CF).

Ronaldo also won UEFA forward of the season in the same event.

The Madrid forward was announced winner in the group stage draws for the 2017/2018 UEFA Champions league draws in Monaco, France.
