Harambee Stars international Michael Olunga bagged a brace as his Al Duhail side managed a draw against the in-form Al Sadd in a thriller.
Olunga scored a goal in either half to help his side stage a comeback on Wednesday, November 3.
In a game that could have gone either way, Algeria's Baghdad Bounedjah put Al Sadd in the lead in the fourth minute after a ball from Jung Woo-Young.
Olunga however restored parity for his side in the 24th minute, finding the back of the net with a powerful corner from Edmilson Junior.
The Kenyan international’s side then took the lead at the half hour mark as Pedro Miguel scored an own goal and Al Duhail went into the break holding on to the slender lead.
Al Sadd, managed by Barcelona legend Xavi, came out in the second half with much more intent and they found their equaliser through Boualem Khoukhi and minutes later, the champions turned the game on its head as Barbosa turned to goalscorer.
But there was more late drama to come and Olunga was at the centre of it as the Kenyan restored parity in the 89th with another header from a few yards out.
The match, which was not short of entertainment, ended in a 3-3 draw as Al Duhail avoided a home defeat to keep pace with leaders Al Sadd, who are only three points ahead of Olunga’s side.
Notably, the game was also full of illegal tackles as there were eight yellow cards and one red card.
