AFCON 2019: Top goal scorers as golden boot race heats up

We are now deep into the Africa Cup of Nations having reached the semi-final stage and so far, the 32nd edition of Africa's one month football fest has seen its torrent of goals.

The race for the golden boot is on its final stretch as a number of superstars that ply their trade in the world's most elite clubs have already packed their bags after getting knocked out of AFCON.

Algeria, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia are the four countries the final teams remaining and so we can expect the tournaments' top scorer to emerge form one of these semifinalists.

Mohamed Salah of Egypt, Hakim Ziyech of Morocco and Wilfried Zaha of Ivory Coast are just some of the big names that failed to progress in Egypt, and as a result are not in contention.

Algeria, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia are the four countries remaining and so we can expect the tournaments' top scorer to emerge from one of these semifinalists.

Here is the list of the top five top scorers placed in order of minutes per goals ratio, according to BBC.

1. Adam Ounas (Napoli)— Algeria

3 goals, 40 minutes per goal, 121 minutes played.

2. Sadio Mane (Liverpool)— Senegal

3 goals, 120 minutes per goal, 360 minutes played.

3. Odion Ighalo (Shanghai Greenland Shenhua) — Nigeria

3 goals, 123 minutes per goal, 370 minutes played.

4. Cedric Bakambu (Beijing Sinobo Guoan F.C.) — DR Congo

3 goals, 130 minutes per goal, 390 minutes played.
