Bruno Fernandes has claimed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not to blame for Man United's defeat against Watford.

United fell two goals behind after the first half at Vicarage Road following a woeful display before substitute Donny van de Beek scored a consolation when he came on in the second half.

However, United's hopes of a comeback were dented shortly after when Harry Maguire was handed marching orders.

Watford went on to score two more goals to condemn the Red Devils to a comprehensive loss.

The result saw United fans present at Vicarage Road turn on Solskjaer as they booed the Norwegian on his way to the tunnel.

However, Fernandes has jumped into the defence of the embattled tactician, insisting the coaching staff is not solely to blame for the disappointing loss.

The Portuguese midfielder noted that everyone, including the players, should take responsibility for the result.

"We don’t tackle, we don’t win our duels and against these teams, you have to win that. You have to show the same intensity as them and afterwards try to show your quality and why you play for Manchester United," Bruno stated.

"It’s everyone’s fault. It’s not the coach, one player or two, it’s everyone. Everyone has to take the responsibility because everyone has to do better," he added.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set for the sack

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Man United board has reportedly reached a decision to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following an emergency meeting in the wake of their 4-1 defeat against Watford on Saturday, November 20.

The Red Devils staged a disappointing performance at Vicarage Road on their return to action after the international break, with the Hornets dominating proceedings from the blow of the whistle.

The hosts downed United 2-0 at the break before Donny van de Beek who came on as a substitute pulling one back for Ole's men.

However, things went from bad to worse for United after skipper Harry Maguire was shown a red card to end hopes of the Manchester side springing a comeback.
