The former Real Madrid star recently returned from injury after staying on the sidelines for days.

However, the World Cup-winning star suffered another injury blow after hobbling off while in action in the Champions League.

Varane lasted only 40 minutes of the European clash which ended in a 2-2 thrilling draw, with Cristiano Ronaldo netting both goals for United.

However, it has now emerged he will play no role in United's next fixture against rivals Man City at Old Trafford.

According to the official confirmation by Manchester United, the Old Trafford landlords stated the 28-year-old will be out for at least a month.

"The club confirms that Raphael sustained a hamstring injury, which is expected to keep him out of action for around a month," Man United confirmed in a statement.
"We'd like to wish Raphael all the best as he works on his recovery," the club added.

Pep hails Ronaldo

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported Pep Guardiola seems well aware of the threat Cristiano Ronaldo could pose for Man City ahead of the Manchester derby.

The clash will come after the two teams' European assignment in the Champions League.

While City comfortably won their fixture against Club Brugge, United showed glimpses of weakness as they settled for a 2-2 draw with Atalanta.

The Red Devils had to rely on Ronaldo to snatch the vital point, with the Portuguese scoring on either half of the match to ensure the tie ended in a stalemate.

And Guardiola knows too well the five-time Ballon d'Or winner could cause major problems when his side travels to Old Trafford this weekend.
