FootballSolskjaer breaks silence after costing Nuno Espirito his job at Tottenham
- Solskjaer noted it was sad to see the axe land on Nuno Espirito barely two days after Man United stunned Tottenham
- Nuno had been in charge of Tottenham for a little over three months having been handed the role in the summer
- The Portuguese was brought in as a permanent successor to his countryman Jose Mourinho who had been sacked at the time
Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has promised to get in touch with sacked Tottenham Hotspur manager, Nuno Espirito.
Espirito was shown the door at Tottenham following the north London side's 3-0 defeat in the hands of the Red Devils at the weekend.
Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford further compounded Espirito's woes resulting in his sacking.
Incidentally, both Espirito and Solskjaer headed into the encounter facing uncertain futures with their respective clubs after a string of poor results.
However, it was Nuno who had the axe fall on him, with Ole breathing a sigh of relief.
The United boss has now made his feelings known after costing Nuno his job, with the Norwegian boss saying he has plenty of sympathy for his counterpart.
“It’s never nice to see good men lose their jobs and he’s been working hard. I don’t know what the situation has been so can’t say too much," The Sun quoted Solskjaer saying.
“But as a colleague you are never happy when that happens. You try to get in touch and tell them your feelings," he added.
Meanwhile, Ole will be looking to help his side build on the newfound momentum when they travel to Italy to take on Atalanta in the Champions League.
And the tactician has not stopped short of saying he had turned the corner, underscoring the need for his charges to ensure they post favourable results going forward.
