The Real icon spent 16 illustrious years at the Bernabeu but has insisted he will be keen to help PSG progress to the next round of the European competition at the expense of the La Liga giants.

Ramos made the declaration after Real were paired with PSG in the Round of 16 following a controversial draw on Monday, December 13.

The first draw saw the Madrid-based çlub pitted against Benfica before landing PSG when the exercise was redone.

Speaking to Marca about the mouthwatering fixture, Ramos admitted he would have loved PSG to face a different side but Madrid.

"Fate is capricious. I would have liked another team to have played us. You know the affection and love I have for Real Madrid," he said.
"Now it's my turn to defend PSG and I'll do everything possible to pass. It's the team that bet on me. I'm going to fight to the death for PSG," he added.

The Spaniard made over 650 appearances for Real Madrid between 2005 and 2021, lifting 22 major titles in the process.

The 35-year-old made a shock exit from the club in the summer, with PSG snapping him up on a free transfer.

However, he has had a difficult start to life at Parc des Princes, with injuries taking a toll on him.

Real unhappy with UCL redraw

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported Real's director of institutional relations, Emilio Butragueno, described the UCL redraw as surprising and regrettable.

The Spanish giants had earlier been drawn against Benfica before landing Paris Saint-Germain in the redone draw.

UEFA were forced to void the first draw due to a technical error that sparked anger and outrage from fans and pundits.
