Premier League club Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana due to the uncertain future of Antonio Rudiger at the Stamford Bridge, SPORTbible reports.
GOAL are reporting that the Blues are targeting the France U21 star who has been in impressive form since he joined the Foxes from St-Etienne in 2020.
Further reports have it that a number of Chelsea defenders are out of contract at the end of the season including Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger.
It was gathered that both Christensen and Rudiger are yet to renew their respective contracts with the London club and Thomas Tuchel is already on the lookout for replacements.
Leicester man Fofana is out of action at the moment due to injury, having fractured his leg during pre-season friendly against Villarreal.
What Brendan Rodgers said about Fofana
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers hopes to have Fofana available again early next year.
“(Fofana) is working very well. We’re just cautious around that.
“He’s done so well and worked so hard. We’ll see where he’s at come the beginning of the new year.”
The report claims that Rudiger is increasingly likely to leave Stamford Bridge and could secure a £400,000-a-week contract, with foreign clubs able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the Germany international from next month.

Tuchel is understood to be keen for Rudiger to extend his stay with Chelsea but the defender remains non-committal.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta is said to be in advanced discussions with a possible move to Spanish club Barcelona at the end of the season.
Reports have it that the player’s current contract with the Blues expires next summer, meaning he could sign a pre-contract with clubs outside the UK as from January.
The Spaniard joined Chelsea from French Ligue 1 side Marseille back in 2012 and has won several titles with the Stamford Bridge outfit.
