Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by the Stamford Bridge visitors and Saul Niguez has been blamed for allowing their opponents to equalize.

Mason Mount had opened the scoring for the hosts in the 70th minute, before Jarrad Branthwaite cancelled out that strike, as a result of Saul's fluffed clearance four minutes later.

Anthony Gordon flicked in an inswinger into the danger as Saul failed to clear the ball with his head before Branthwaite poked home at the back stick.

Upset with the development, Chelsea fans wasted no time in lamenting Saul's involvement in the goal, ruthlessly destroying his loan spell at the club.

One tweeted:

"Genuinely Saul might be the worst player in the entire league."

A second wrote:

"We signed Saul on a loan just for him to cost us a title race. I’m tired."

A third added:

"Not even bothering talking about Saul at this point, it’s laughable how he’s here and getting minutes."

Chelsea's draw against Everton sees them lose ground on Manchester City and Liverpool as they remain in third place in the league.

More Premier League fixtures postponed due to Covid-19

Meanwhile, Leicester’s Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur slated for Thursday, December 16, has been postponed as pressure continues to mount on the league.

The Premier League announced it had resorted to the decision because of "an increase in positive COVID-19 cases within Leicester's squad.

Their Premier League game against Brighton was also postponed last week for COVID-related reasons while their game against Burnley was called off due to harsh weather conditions.
