The Premier League title race is hotting up with the top three, Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea all showing every intent to cart home the domestic title.

All three teams secured crucial wins in match week 16, with Chelsea striking their winner at stoppage time to keep pace with their title rivals.

Man City remain top on the log with 38 points, a point ahead of second-placed Liverpool who had to rely on Mohamed Salah's 67th-minute penalty to see off a stubborn Aston Villa side on Saturday, December 11, at Anfield.

City were faced with the same predicament against Wolves as they toiled to earn a 1-0 crucial win courtesy of Raheem Sterling's penalty in the 66th minute of the encounter.

The Blues remain third with 36 points following their 3-2 win over Leeds United at Stamford Bridge.

West Ham's hopes of cementing their place in the top four were dealt a massive blow on Sunday, December 12, after they were held to a 0-0 frustrating draw against Burnley at Turf Moor.

They nonetheless remain fourth on the log with 28 points, just one point ahead of fifth-placed Man United.

The Red Devils stunned Norwich City 1-0 in their own EPL outing at Carrow Road, with Cristiano Ronaldo striking the winner from the spot with 15 minutes left on the clock.

Arsenal are placed sixth following their thrilling win over Southampton, with Tottenham, who still have two matches in hand rocked in seventh.

Burnley, Newcastle, and Norwich are all rooted in the relegation zone after dropping points in match week 16.

Man United suffer COVID-19 crisis

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported Man United's upcoming fixtures have been plunged into limbo following a COVID-19 outbreak at the Manchester club.

United were due to have a training session on Sunday but were forced to call it off due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Reports claim it was a ‘small number of players and staff' who returned positive lateral flow tests, with those who tested positive sent home.
