Influential Premier League defensive midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has been ruled out of Nigeria's friendly games against Tunisia and Ivory Coast in October.

The 23-year-old was said to have suffered a groin injury during Leicester City's 4-2 win over Burnley in last weekend's Premier League triumph at the King Power Stadium.

He is now expected to miss their EFL Cup clash against Arsenal at the same venue on Wednesday, September 23rd.

This development now means that Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr will have to name a replacement for the midfielder with Granada midfielder Ramon Azeez, the only midfielder on stand-by.

The Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye also confirmed the news, saying the German-born tactician has been informed according to SportingLife.

“Ndidi is injured and will not make the trip to Austria for the friendly games against Ivory Coast and Tunisia. “He has informed the coach and the federation about this latest development.

"We will miss him, no doubt about that, but then again, this is an opportunity for the other players to rise to the occasion,” Ibitoye said.

The three-time African Champions will battle Ivory Coast on October 9 and four days later, face-off with Tunisia.

Legit.ng earlier reported that former Nigeria international, Felix Owolabi has urged Gernot Rohr to build his team around Africa's most expensive player, Victor Osimhen.

The 21-year-old joined Italian League giants, Napoli, from French League side Lille in a deal around €80 million.

Osimhen found a way to justify his big pay after making an impact on his debut last weekend against Parma.
