Ghana Black Stars departs for Qatar for 2021 AFCON prep on Friday

• The much awaited and much postponed African Cup of Nations seems to be set to commence in January 2022 in Cameroon after the long delay
• The Ghana Black Stars named it's 30-man provisional squad for the continental football showpiece on Tuesday after claims Coach Milo was being delayed by influence in squad
• The 30-man preliminary squad of the Black Stars will hold a training camp in Doha before Milovan Rajevac submits a final list of 28 players before deadline of January 30

Coach Milovan Rajevac and his team, the Black Stars will depart Ghana for Doha on Friday to begin their camping ahead of the AFCON tournament in January.

The five players named in the squad that ply their trade in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) will leave with the Serbian coach and the technical team on Friday.

They will joined in Qatar by the remaining 25 foreign based players who will be cleared for travel and released by their club on December 23 and 24.

The rest that would be released late or cleared for travel late for one reason or the other will join the rest of their team-mates as and when they arrive in Doha.

Andre Dede Ayew, captain of the Black Stars, who already plays for Qatari side, Al Sadd, will meet the rest of his team-mates in the Desert country.

Coach Milovan Rajevac named his 30-man provisional squad on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, after reports of outside interference in the naming of the squad broke out the day before.

Ghana will play a series of friendlies including facing African champions Algeria, as the four-time African Cup winners, chase an elusive fifth AFCON title after last winning it in 1982.

The Black Stars, drawn in Group C alongside Morocco, Comoros Island and Gabon will open their 2021 AFCON account with a crunch game against North African giants, Morocco in the opening game on January 10, before playing Gabon and Comoros Island in later games.

John Arne Riise, the manager of Norwegian women's top-flight side, Avaldsnes IL, has heaped a lot of praise on the club's new signing, Evelyn Badu from Hasaacas Ladies.

The former Liverpool defender, now manager, said the 19-year-old was a great addition to his team's attacking threat.
