FootballDiego Simeone Makes Stunning Statement About Atletico Madrid Poor Start This Season
- Atletico Madrid are the defending champions of La Liga but have struggled to find their best form this season
- Diego Simeone’s team are currently placed 5th on the table, 17 points adrift of table-toppers Real Madrid
- Simeone has urged his Atleti players to relax, clear their minds and get to work in order to defend their title
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has advised his team to clear their minds and get to work after a disastrous start to the defence of the La Liga title Football Espana reports.
Los Rojiblancos are currently placed 5th in the standings and are 17 points off the pace against city rivals Real Madrid who tops the table with 46 points.
Los Rojiblancos have dropped points in ten games already this season with five draws and five losses some of which include losing to Mallorca, Real Madrid, and most recently Granada.
Football pundits and fans believe there is no realistic chance of Atletico Madrid defending their league title despite the season just at the halfway stage but Diego Simeone has urged his players to clear their minds, relax and get to work ahead of the second half of the season.
The Copa Del Rey stands the only realistic chance of Atletico Madrid finishing this season with silverware this season with many favouring other top teams like PSG, Mancity, and Real Madrid ahead of the Los Rojiblancos in the Uefa Champions League.
