FootballDani Alves Reveals Why Lionel Messi is Struggling at PSG
- Lionel Messi joined PSG from Barcelona last summer after spending over 20 years at the Camp Nou
- The Argentine has struggled to find his best form for PSG in the Lique 1 scoring just once this season
- Dani Alves believes the Argentine star will still succeed in France but needs time to adapt to his new surroundings
Life has not been rosy for seven-time Ballon’Dor winner Lionel Messi in France as the Argentine has struggled to replicate his best form for his new team Paris Saint Germain Barcauniversal.com reports.
Messi switched the Nou Camp for the Parc De Princes last summer after Barcelona could not tie their all-time goal scorer to a new contract due to his hefty wages with the Catalan club in serious financial challenges.
Ultimately Messi had to leave his boyhood club for a new adventure away in France although that move many have felt has been underwhelming by the standards set by the Argentine in his career.
In a recent interview with SPORT as reported by Sportskeeda, Messi's former teammate Dani Alves defended the PSG superstar, insisting he is like every other human, Messi needs time to adapt to his new surroundings.
"Football taught me that no matter your talent, you always have to adapt to your new adventure. It doesn’t matter who you are. That’s happening with Messi right now. He is human too. He left the club of his life to another club where everything is new.” said Dani Alves.
Messi recent struggles in the domestic league has however not affected the Argentine in the biggest stage of European club football as he has netted six times for the Parisians in the Uefa Champions League with his goal against English champions Manchester City adjudged the best goal in the group stages.
PSG will look to put past failures behind them as they have been tagged as one of the favourites for this season’s Uefa Champions League after adding Messi to their forward line that includes Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
