Man United boss Ralf Rangnick has reportedly stopped Diogo Dalot from leaving Old Trafford in January.
His Roma counterpart Jose Mourinho is said to be keen to reunite with the Portuguese star as he is keen to strengthen the right-back position.
Mourinho has been a long-term admirer of Dalot having signed him for United from Porto back in 2018 when he was the manager at Old Trafford.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato now reports Roma chiefs have since contacted Dalot's representatives and had an "agreement in principle" to sign the defender.
However, Metro UK claims Rangnick has blocked Dalot's possible exit as he is keen to integrate him into his plans.
The Portuguese wingback has managed just 27 league appearances since his arrival at the Theatre of Dreams, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka the preferred choice.
However, having featured for Rangnick twice, the 22-year-old looks set to form an important part in the German's reign at United.
Such a development would mean Mourinho will have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.

The German tactician is understood to be desperate to complete the transfer of the Borussia Dortmund hotshot, with reports suggesting he has already held talks with the player’s father to discuss the transfer.
