Jose Mourinho finally reacts to Frank Lampard's sack as Chelsea boss

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has reacted to the sack of Frank Lampard as the head coach of Chelsea.

The 42-year-old was axed by the Blues earlier this week following a poor run of results on the Premier League table.

Spurs handler claims his former player's was sack was due to the pressure of modern football, adding that the 42-year-old should have expected that.

Lampard was probably not expecting his sack this soon after guiding them to a 3-1 win over Luton Town in their FA Cup fourth-round meeting.

Chelsea splashed out £220 million during the summer transfer window, but that did not result in immediate success for the young manager as they currently sit ninth on the log.

Their current status on the table is definitely not satisfactory to the owner Roman Abramovich wielded the axe following a brief chat with Lampard according to The Mirror.

Meanwhile, former Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has been tipped to succeed the Englishman and revive their quest for European football next term at the least.

Mourinho has enjoyed two successful spells at the London club with three Premier League titles among others to show for it.

He told the media after Tottenham's FA Cup win over Wycombe earlier this week that:

"It is the brutality of modern football but when you become a manager you know that sooner or later it is going to happen."

Lampard how now expressed disappointment at the Chelsea board for not giving him enough time to build his team at the Bridge.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Chelsea may have been right to cut ties with Frank Lampard after stats show that he is the worst manager with the worst points-per-game record of the Roman Abramovich era.

Though the 42-year-old guided the Blues to a 3-1 win over Luton Town in their FA Cup fourth round fixture last weekend, however, that was not enough to save his job.

The former midfielder who was appointed in the summer of 2019 sits at the base of the chart with a 49 per cent win ratio in 57 appearances which translates to 1.67 points-per-game.
