- His contract situation at the German club has courted the attention of top European clubs
- Rangnick is said to have been in touch with Haaland's dad over a possible switch to Old Trafford
- Barcelona, Bayern, and Man City are among the clubs keen on the services of the Norwegian
Man United boss Ralf Rangnick appears to have stepped up his bid to sign Erling Haaland after reportedly contacting the striker's father over £63.8m Old Trafford transfer.
The German tactician is understood to be desperate to complete the transfer of the Borussia Dortmund hotshot, with Mirror UK reporting he has already held talks with the player’s father to discuss the transfer.
Haaland has been a long-term transfer target for the Red Devils and even came close to joining them before he opted for a move to the Bundesliga.
Since his transfer to Dortmund, the Norwegian has continued to cement his reputation as one of the most lethal strikers in world football, finding the back of the net 76 times in just 74 games.
Reports suggest he will have a release clause of just €75million (£63.8m) at the end of the ongoing season and every sign point at him potentially leaving at the time.
His contract situation has put top European clubs on red alert, with many jostling to land his services in the summer.
United will now be hoping Haaland's relationship with Rangnick that dates back to their time at RB Salzburg could play an influential role in their pursuit for the forward.
Manchester Evening News claim that Rangnick has been in touch with Haaland Snr. with United making the signing of a new forward a priority in 2022.
However, the Premier League giants will have to contend with intense competition from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and rivals Manchester City who have been touted as potential rivals for his signature.
