Robert Lewandowski has stated emphatically that Lionel Messi's words to him at the 2021 Ballon d'Or gala night were powerful and that he cherished what the PSG star said about him.

The former Barcelona captain even enjoined the organizers of the Ballon d'Or to give Robert Lewandowski the 2020 edition which was cancelled because of COVID-19.
According to the report on GOAL and SB Nation, Lewandowski explained that he spoke with Lionel Messi after the ceremony and was grateful for his words.

Earlier, Sportsbrief had reported how the world’s football governing body FIFA revealed the candidates shortlisted for The Best FIFA Football Awards 2021, the winner of which will be revealed at an online ceremony on January 17, 2022.
A ten-man list of nominees was unveiled on FIFA website which include Barcelona legend Lionel Messi and Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
The pair have dominated both the FIFA awards and Ballon d’Or in the last one and a half decade, but that of this year will be tightly contested with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski also on the list.
