  • Recently sacked coach Gavin Hunt said he had no plans of returning to coaching any time soon despite rumours in the press and on social media linking him with Orlando Pirates
  • Hunt, a four-time league title winner at SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits, was unceremoniously fired last week by Chippa United
  • Some fans reckon he is the tonic the Sea Robbers need, while others believe he can't get them back to their glory days

Jobless Gavin Hunt was dismissive of rumours linking him with the head coach position at Orlando Pirates.

Hunt was sacked unceremoniously by Chippa United last week, and with Pirates currently being managed by a caretaker coach, rumours naturally sprang up in the press and on social media.

Relieved of duty twice already this year, Hunt told TimesLive that he was going to take a break from football for the foreseeable future.

He said:

“I’m reading a lot about me in the papers, but not paying any attention.”

Hunt, the longest serving coach in the league, has four league titles to his name, having won three on the bounce at SuperSport United and one at now-defunct Bidvest Wits.

"I hear people saying Gavin Hunt must come coach @orlandopirates and I don't share the same sentiments. I do not have anything against Hunt but I just don't see him getting the team back to its glory days."

"Gavin Hunt might be a great fit for positions such as Technical Director. This coaching journey has slightly come to an end."

Ghanaian forward Kwame Peprah's brace powers Orlando Pirates to victory in South Africa

Ghanaian striker Kwame Peprah was the hero for Orlando Pirates after netting a brace to earn the South African giants victory over Marumo Gallants in the DStv Premiership.

Sports Brief reported that the former King Faisal attacker grabbed his debut goal after his 13th appearance in the league for the Buccaneers.

Peprah had been the subject of derision for his bluntness in front of goals, but it appears he might be winning over the doubters after this performance.
